Suspicious Package in St. Gilles: False Alarm

July 16, 2010, 2:31 pm

ST GILLES – A suspicious suitcase found Thursday in St. Gilles turned out to be full of clothes. The bomb squad had blocked traffic for over two hours.

The abandoned suitcase was discovered around 10:45 am Thursday, after a local resident informed police after seeing somebody abandon the bag – which had been secured with a padlock – on the sidewalk. Police then summoned the army's SEDEE squad. SEDEE set up a security perimeter around 1:20 p.m., blocking traffic for more than two hours.
